About the Author: Professor Robert Ireland has been a part-time lecturer at the University of Liverpool and a senior partner in a group dental practice for 30 years. In 1995 he was appointed Professor of Primary Dental Care and Director of the Dental Therapy Course at the University of Liverpool. He has produced three educational videos for the dental team and has been extensively involved in hospital and practice dental nurse training. He is currently a presiding examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses and external examiner for dental nursing at Trinity College, Dublin.
