Book Description
In order to become skilled and competent practitioners, student midwives need to understand the complex individual, family and societal issues they will encounter. By introducing the contemporary context of midwifery practice, this book helps students to understand the problems many women face in society. The book covers topics including violence, mental and sexual health, the rising obesity epidemic and increases in numbers of women from non-UK countries. The authors emphasise the fact that students need to be aware of their public health responsibilities and discuss various health promotion strategies.
Editorial Review
The missing factor for most senior managers is not the desire to do something to improve health and safety, rather it is a lack of knowledge of what they practically need to do to make a difference. Talking Safety for most people is the missing piece of the jigsaw, the piece that brings realisation and helps them to 'get it'. Key to this success is the light hearted and yet impactful style of the book which makes the techniques which have been developed through hard won experience immediately accessible.' Neil Budworth, former President of IOSH'Tim brings psychology to the world of safety in a manner which inspires workforce and directors alike and delivers real results'. Heather Beach EHS Director, Barbour'This book will quickly become the walk and talk standard from Europe's own safety leadership guru.' Jim McKerron HSEQ Director Enterprise
