Book Description
Meet Otti, Ugga, and Flibb-They like to doodle. They doodle all the time! They doodle when they are mad, they doodle when they are glad, and they doodle when they are sad. They doodle just about anything they want! How Do You Doodle? is a drawing book for kids to help them get in touch with and learn to express their emotions. The book is divided up into different fun doodle activities such as "name your feelings," "what do you feel when," and "how does it feel when" to help readers start thinking about what they experience when they are feeling an emotion. How do You Doodle? can be used alone, or in association with a therapist or parent to help kids better realize and understand their emotional responses to situations, and to help promote better emotional health. A ""Note to Parents"" is included.
Editorial Review
Gold Medal, Mom's Choice Awards Bronze Medal, IndieFab/Book of the Year Award "Gravel's emotive cartoon characters are both comforting and gently subversive. The balance between guided activities and creative free space should provide readers a sense of ownership over their work."--Publishers Weekly "This is the coolest journal for kids to express their feelings. I have been using it in lessons, group, and individual counseling. The kids' reaction to it has been really awesome. I'm also suggesting it to parents as a social/emotional outlet for at home."--Books that Heal Kids "An excellent choice simply as a stand-alone activity book or as a tool for parents, teachers, or psychologists to use while working with individual children."--Midwest Book Review
About the Author
After studying graphic design in Montreal in 2000, Elise Gravel quickly discovered a passion for illustration. Inspired by working on her first children's book, Le catalogue des gaspilleurs, she has since written and illustrated a dozen books for children. With humour and a sense of the absurd, she parodies the worlds of advertising, fashion, fast food, and consumerism, and encourages children to look critically and poke fun at the social problems that bother them. She won her first Governor General's Literary Award from the Canada Council for the Arts in 2012 for her book La cle a molette. show less
