Book Description
About The Book Kingshuk Nag, in his third book, The NaMo Story: A Political Life paints a vivid portrait of an extraordinary politician, Narendra Modi, portraying his journey from a tea vendor's son to the Chief Minister of Gujarat as eventually - the prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 elections. The book begins with a brief history of the political environment and reforms of the 1990s. It describes how Modi used his skills in administration to build up the Hindutva agenda for the BJP, to further his and his party's political goals. The book goes on to describe how Modi invited the Patel community into the BJP, which resulted in BJP winning the 2002 Assembly elections. Nag also traces Modi's political course through the movements of the Jana Sangh and the RSS in Gujarat during the 1968 riots, as well as the Chimanbhai Patel government and the Emergency. The chapter titled “Son of the RSS” is a riveting account of Modi's transition from being a tea vendor to a mere member of the RSS to becoming a Chief Minister. His tenure of CM is discussed in detail with detailed information on his game plan for Gujarat, including his relations with big investors and the Vibrant Gujarat summits. Dealing with the monumental question of Modi's Prime Ministerial ambition, the book analyses the politician's power struggle with other BJP leaders on a national level. The book ends with Modi's international endeavours including his welcoming visit to China in 2011 and his attempts towards establishing strong links with U.S and Canada. The NaMo Story: A Political Life is an impartial account of Narendra Modi's life, enabling the reader to formulate a personal opinion of the charismatic leader. It was published on 10 April 2010 and is available in paperback.
