Sophisticated design ensures excellent performance and highest image quality
The use of special, high-quality glass materials ensures accurate colour reproduction and superior sharpness, perfect for the demands of today's high-quality camera sensors. The optical construction (17 elements in 12 groups) uses 2 XR elements (extra refractive index), 3 LD elements (Low Dispersion), 3 GM elements (glass-molded aspherical) and a hybrid aspherical lens element. The high performance lenses minimise image errors such as chromatic aberrations (colour fringes), for which bright zoom lenses are somewhat more prone and at the same time ensure an even high image quality across the entire image.

Optimal speed and best performance.
The new SP 24-70mm G2 is equipped with a dual microprocessing unit (MPU). Two separate processor units allow the processing of the digital signals of VC image stabilizer and USD autofocus at top speed. For example, commands from camera and AF motor can be interpreted quickly and realised with high precision.

The best image stabilisation in its class
The SP 24-70mm G2 VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabiliser is also controlled by the dual microprocessing unit (MPU). In addition, a new algorithm has been installed, which further optimises the control and signal processing of the VCSystem. The VC system now holds up to 5 aperture settings and is therefore even better suited for hands-free shots even in low light conditions.

eBAND coating reduces scattered light and ghost images
All lens elements are equipped with an eBand coating (Extendes Bandwidth and Angular Dependency) developed by Tamron especially for the SP 24-70mm G2. This technology combines a conventional multiple coating and a nano coating with extremely low refractive index.

Lens hood with locking mechanism
The lens hood of the new SP 24-70mm G2 now has a new locking mechanism, which prevents accidental falling or slipping of the aperture during use.
