About the Author
Paulo Coelho An international novelist. Before devoting himself to writing, he practiced theater directing and acting, worked as a lyricist and journalist, and wrote song lyrics for many Brazilian singers. He published his first book in 1982, entitled “Hell Archive,” but it did not meet with any success. Then in 1986, Coelho made a walking pilgrimage to the shrine of St. James in Compostela. He later documented his journey in his book, “Hajj.” The following year, he published “The Alchemist.” The publisher almost abandoned it at first, but it quickly became one of the most important and best-selling Brazilian novels. Won first place between nine and twenty countries. He received many honors and appreciations
